Class Schedule
  March 2008 - June 2008

Each class has a minimum and a maximum, so early registration is necessary.  Fees should be paid at the time of registration.  Phone registrations will be held for ONE WEEK to allow time for us to receive your payment by mail.  In fairness to class members and teachers alike, we will cancel one week in advance if the required minimum is not reached. Cancellations made ONE WEEK in advance will receive a full refund.  Mail registrations may receive their instructions by return mail by adding $4.60 per book or $1.25 per pattern.

DETAILS BY DIANE:  1 7-hour session  Cost:  $32.00 includes pattern
                Saturday, February 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
                “Free form” stained glass (with no leading) patterns that can be accomplished in one day.  Pick from any of the DETAILS patterns and get ready for fun.  Bring your machine and a sack lunch.  ALL LEVELS. 

STAINED GLASS:  2 4-hour sessions  Cost:  $15.00
                Saturday, March 1 & 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
                Pick out any stained glass pattern and learn all the tricks to creating one of these beautiful quilts, right down to making your own fusible bias tape.  During the first session we’ll work on transferring the pattern to the base fabric, using fusible web, and building the picture.  The second session will be making the bias tape, adding the fusible, ironing, and sewing the “leading” to the piece.  Great fun!  ALL LEVELS.

                We plan to team teach this class as we all have different techniques to share.  We’ll talk about marking, batting, thread and needles.  We’ll have lots of different gizmos and gadgets for you to try – most especially thimbles.  There are so many to choose from and you’ll want to have one that’s comfy.  BEGINNER.

                FOUR CORNERS is the March Miss Rosie’s Quilt Co. Schnibbles of the Month.  It takes 82 charm squares.  The 5” squares are cut into smaller squares and rectangles for the 7” blocks and pieced border.  Add a narrow inner border and binding and your Schnibbles is complete.  Our sample and kits are made from the Art to Heart group Williams Inn.   Bring your machine and a sack lunch.  ALL LEVELS.

MACHINE QUILTING:  1 3-hour session  Cost:  $13.00

                This great classic shoulder bag is from the book EASY TO MAKE TOTES WITH ZIPPERS by Cindy Taylor Oates.  The bag is 11 ½” x 7 ½” x 3” with an outside pocket, zipper closure and single strap.  ALL LEVELS.  Bring your machine and a sack lunch.

FRENCH GARDEN:  1 5-hour session  Cost:  $30.00 includes book
                Saturday, April 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
                A twin size quilt that would make a good second project.  Come to class with all blocks made and fabrics cut for sashing.  Learn how to piece sashing so intersections line up straight.  This quilt is set on point and you’ll learn how to add setting triangles.  ADVANCED BEGINNER.  Bring your machine and a sack lunch or we can order in.

FOUR COUNTY FABRIC FRENZY – April 8-12 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

MIRANDA DAY BAG:  1 7-hour session  Cost:  $25.00 includes pattern
                Friday, April 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
                This bag is a perfect companion for a day on the go.  Loaded with 10 inside pockets.  Choose short or long fabric handles or fashion handles.  Bag size is approximately 12” x 10” x 6”.  Pattern by “Lazy Girl Designs”.  ALL LEVELS.  Bring your machine and a sack lunch.

                These “wonky” Log Cabin blocks from Christine Porter Quilts are a fun way to use theme prints or novelty fabric squares.  Logs are added around the 5 ½” center square and then squared up at an angle before the next round is added.  Once you get the idea going the possiblities are endless!  Bring your machine and a sack lunch.  ALL LEVELS.

                Try this Tammy Tadd Designs pattern to make a 46” x 52” quilt.  We used Tammy’s new line of fabric, Paisley on Parade, for our sample and of course we made kits.  It’s a great project for BEGINNER quilters.  Bring your machine and a sack lunch and we’ll stitch the day away.

SHAWL JACKET:  3 5-hour sessions  Cost:  $40.00 includes pattern
                Saturday, May 24,  31 & June 7 from noon to 5:00 p.m.
                This patchwork jacket is a short (finished length 23”), simple design with shawl collar and bias trim.  Pattern by “Favorite Things”.  The first session of this 3 session class will be devoted to fitting the pattern.  The second and third sessions will be devoted to construction of the jacket.  INTERMEDIATE.  Bring your machine.

                Piece this 40” x 48” quilt using the stack and slash method.  Use a Tonga Dimes kit from Timeless Treasures or choose any group of thirty 10” squares.  There are other size options and it makes a good BEGINNER project.  Bring your machine and a sack lunch.

BASIC FUSIBLE APPLIQUE:  1 4-hour session  Cost:  $20.00 includes pattern
                Wednesday, June 18 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
                In this class you will learn the basics of fusing and finishing the edges of a floral appliqué design.  The pattern, SENA’S SPECIMEN from Sew Be It, features a daisy or cone like flower with stem and leaves set in a window.  We will fuse the flower and then finish the edges with a buttonhole stitch.  This is the perfect way to be introduced to this method of quilting.  BEGINNERS and those who have not tried fusing.

                Create some great stack and slash blocks either using batiks like our sample or 30 10” squares of your own.  ALL LEVELS.  Bring your machine and a sack lunch.

ADVANCED MACHINE QUILTING:  1 3-hour session  Cost:  $13.00 
                Saturday, June 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
                Must be an EXPERIENCED machine quilter wanting to take quilting to the next level.  You will learn stencils, feathers and additional free-motion designs.  Bring your machine.

FABRIC DYING:  1 6-hour session  Cost:  $65.00 includes dying kit
                Saturday, June 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
                If you are tired of not being able to find just the right hand dyed colors or color  combinations, then come and learn to dye your own.  We will do low immersion dying in the garage, and what comes out of your dye container is going to knock your socks off.  Price for this class includes your own dye kit, including dyes (enough for 3 yards of fabric), chemicals, rubber gloves, dust mask, Synthropol, and COLOR BY ACCIDENT book by Ann Johnson.  Bring a sack lunch.  ALL LEVELS.
